2008 S80 Adding Navigation?

Everything on the Volvo S80. Sometimes called an "executive car", the S80 was Volvo's top-of-the-line passenger car. P2 platform.

Is it possible to add a factory Volvo nav system to the vehicle?

Yes but it is expensive. $3500 range. Maybe more if your car doesn't have Nav prep wiring.

Samsung Note 3 and a phone mount bracket that is sold for that phone would give you a great voice activated system for far less money. There may be other NAV only devices out there too.

The Nav system that would go onto your car is not too great compared to what is out there now.
Few, if any, factory built in units are as easy to use as smartphones. I guess the exception is the expensive subscription systems where you call an operator and tell them where you want to go and they look it up and send the file via cell phone data carrier to the nav system in your car.

Cell phone systems (Androids anyway) allow you to open Google app, touch the microphone button and then say, "I want to go to Neiman Marcus in downtown Dallas" and you select navigate by car and in a few seconds it will start voice over with map displayed turn by turn guidance.

This. Even if you got it for free, factory nav sucks compared to a smartphone.

If you feel the need for extra screen space, spring for a Nexus 7.

Get a Pro-Clip adaptor mount to suit your car then a powered holder for your SmartPhone from the same people, running a GPS app on a mobile puts a huge strain on the battery in the phone and you wouldn't want it flat when you get to where you are going. The Pro-Clip range look great when installed offering a sturdy holder without looking too obtrusive and they don't attach using any screws neither do they involve any drilling or cutting of the dash.

I have a three Brodit/ Pro-Clip mounts in my V70, one for a TomTom that seldom gets use, another for my Garmin which doubles as a display to read real time engine information and a final clip that holds and charges my S-III phone, hiding the wiring isn't difficult - Mike
