2002 S80 T6 Flushing after Oil Cooler Failure Advice

Post by theguyoverhere »

Replaced failed oil cooler, (it was definitely the oil cooler, trans fluid is ok and after replacing and flushing there is significant improvement)

I flushed it 3 times with Prestone Flush and Peak flush, the thermostat was pulled

I don't think they are aggressive enough, I have seen post of people using dish soap, dish detergent, baking soda, vinegar, shout etc. there is also a Cummins product that I may try if I can get it

However the problem seems to be that the solution of flush and distilled water isn't circulating all the way, the radiator was replaced a few months ago and the heater core worked fine before this, but there is no heat coming from the heater when on and I'm not feeling even heat on the rad hoses, I blew air throw both the small hoses coming off the reservoir and also blew into the reservoir with one of the hoses disconnected which seemed like it was moving stuff around in there

What I'm getting at is there a specific way I should be going about this?

I'm thinking I should remove the hoses to the engine oil cooler and heater hoses and blow compressed air through them, that and/or backflush the system through the heater core hoses (which I'm sure I would need another hose to go from the tee to where the heater hoses would normally go)

Any advice would be GREATLY appreciated, thank you very much
