940 Turbo SW - 1997
Hi,
Is there a way to remove the rear seat head restraints?
I have two car seats for my children and I need to pull the head restraints off in order to have their backside to properly lean the backrest.
Thank you
How to remove the rear seat head restraints?
i couldn't figure out how to get mine out of the 240 either. Found out there is something that has to be pushed in from inside the trunk. As I remember no tools were used. So, I think it's something you can push with your hand/finger. I would imagine that yours can't be that different from the 240.

That's what I thing as well, but I cannot find any button in the backrest, unless somebody points me to it.
Thank you

Hi,
Just to make it easier to understand, have a look at the picture, my baby car seats are very high, they get blocked by the head restraint and cannot lean to the backrest.

Alex,
I just looked at my head rests which have been out of the car for
14 yrs:-) The head rests have a black piece of 3/8" tubing coming from them on each side. Near the bottom of the tubing there is an indented spot that something snaps into. This means that there is something that has to be pryed out and not pushed in. (My mistake in an earlier post) i would think that it's either a piece of metal or a piece of plastic.
Now that you are looking for something to pry out, it should make it easier. If you still can't figure it out, let me know and I will look at the actual car rather than just the head rest. Of course, there are 2 pieces of tubing on each head rest.

The outer rear seats head restraints in the 940 Estate go down automatically when the seat backrest is folded down and come up again when the backrest is raised. This is done by a spring arrangement attached to the head restraint locating rod.
To remove the head restraint it is necessary to disconnect the spring mechanism from the headrest locating rod and also from the floor of the car. The headrest should then pull free from the top.
Keep all the parts removed so they can be put back at a later date if needed.
Bill.
