So it is now my turn to deal with the ETM issue. There is no doubt that it is shot. I was coming home from the mountains and while driving up a serious pass the engine lost much of its usual power and about 70 miles later the CEL came on. The car became jerky, etc, etc. The idle is now all over the place and it has all the telltale signs I have read about. She is throwing the following codes: P1283, P0121, and p1171. Which leads me to believe I should replace the MAF while I'm at it and poss the turbo control valve. Anyway, my two question is this. What, if any, effect does the ETM have on the trans? I have a manual transmission and a couple of times after the CEL came on it seemed to pop out of first. Also leading up to this it has been difficult to match the gas with the clutch to get a good "match" while driving. Lastly, there has been a strange whining when driving that rises in pitch the higher the rps go before shift. I am OK with replacing what needs replaced, but I am a little concerned about my transmission. Thank you for your help.
