1998 V70 rear wheel noise

Post by sisterocean »

I have a rattling noise coming from the driver side rear wheel. Stops when I apply the brakes. Noise comes and goes. Anyone knows what this is? Thanks

Could also be loose parking brake components - on these cars the parking brake is a conventional drum brake that works on a rear drum integral with the brake rotor

Is it more of a rattle or a grinding noise? Does it sound like its circular? rattling doesn't sound like much of a brake issue. Could be your bearings. If you meant grinding, this noise most likely developed over time. Did you hear kind of a moaning sound that speeds up in frequency when driving fast?

I drove the car yesterday trying to listen again. No noise. At least I have a new ideas what it could be. Brake pads, bearings, or parking brake. The noise will come back.I guess next step is to take off tire and do some inspecting. Thanks for the possible problems
