2005 S60 Alarm disable

Post by asummers »

Our daughter has a 2005 S60. The alarm has been malfunctioning for a while now. It is finally to the point where you can just barely hear the horn, and the lights still flash when it is activated. And the message screen says that the alarm was activated. Is there a way to disable the alarm system, like maybe pulling a relay of fuse? And, if that was possible, would the keyless entry still work? Or, is there an alarm reset procedure? Thanks.

yes, pull 'siren' fuse side panel behind drivers door. it only deactivates the siren.

It is fuse F8 of the CEM under the steering wheel.

If that doesn't work, Volvo has software to disable/remove the entire alarm system's electronics out of the car.
You pull the fuse and I don't think the sunroof works, they're tied together

I am not aware of the 2005 models, but on the 2003 the fuse only has the sound disabled, everything else works just like when the alarm is on (or off).

The information display may indicate an alarm system malfunction with the fuse removed. If the alarm module isn't replaced the other best alternative is to disable/remove the alarm system as JRL said.

Thanks for all the info. I plan on replacing the alarm module, just not right now. It also seems easier to remove the fender to take it out, so I am planning on that method. After replacing the alarm and siren will it have to be reprogrammed at a dealership?

The new module needs to be married with the car. Otherwise the system will store an anomaly code. When I replaced mine it worked right away and I noticed the condition only when the car was scanned with Vida-Dice a few months later. It is a simple Vida-Dice command to have it registered. From what I saw it isn't affecting alarm operation.

Here is a procedure on how to replace it;

Also you have this youtube video.

As mentioned fuse location is different of what is shown in the video for 2005-07. Also you can use a long nose Vise-Grip to undo the security bolt.
