So green should not connect to anything in that general area?
I'll pop my hood when I get home and give it one more good feel. Like you said, it's possible that hose comes in to the larger containing hose and I just didn't notice it. But I'm really sure I did that Sunday - I wrapped my fingers around the hose and went from point A to point B. And it seems like there was only one hose coming out of the end of the hose.
Also, what would the repercussions be if green is indeed connecting where blue should connect?
EDIT: Actually, if you look at picture #1 again, there is only one hose coming out if that. And it definitely is the green hose from your picture. So in picture #1, that is not the EVAP system you are referencing, right?

These two run together from the air intake snorkel and follow the path of the blue line that I traced above - it turns a sharp corner around the bottom of the intake manifold and goes to the oil trap box. They are not connected to the green hose in any way.

Awesome, that's what I was thinking.
So if I can figure out where the blue line is (seriously, could not find it coming out from the manifold), I should hook it up there. Which leaves me with an unconnected (green) hose. Any pictures of where that should be going?
Thanks so much with your patience with me man. I just want my wagon to be happy again.

Ahhhhhh.
OK. I see what you're talking about now...I was just confused as to which line you were talking about. That one doesn't connect to the PTC, but DOES connect right beside it. The green line connects to the single port on the air intake hose right beside the 2 that I pointed arrows at. This enables the car to provide vacuum to the EVAP system either at idle (from intake manifold side, closed off by one-way valves in the lines), or from the turbo area (under boost).
It follows this path. The one from the OTHER side of the solenoid valve connects to the EVAP canister (yellow). It comes up somewhere in that area as well.
Sorry for any confusion I caused you.

Ok, did some investigation just now.
So it seems like the connection on the side of the intake manifold connects where the one that's connecting to the green line should (if you're looking at that picture, it's the arrow furthest to the left). Is that right? If that's so, is the other arrow supposed to connect to the oil trap canister?
Also, where the hell should I reconnect the now disconnected green line?

Top arrow - side of intake manifold near PS pump.
Bottom arrow - oil trap canister.
Single vacuum line near those 2 (lower, right of picture) - to one-way valves, purge valve, intake manifold (green line).

Ok, so this is how it should be:
I figure out what was up. #3 and #2 were reversed. I have it wired up per this diagram. Car seemed happy.
Might change the oil soon. If they wired my car up stupid, I'm willing to bet they didn't put synthetic in.

Ok, took the car for a drive tonight. The whirring noise on startup is gone, but it's still hard to start. Wondering if the spark plugs (and possibly oil?) being changed would help. Smells a tad like fuel when it does start, if that helps anything.
The coolant light came on again. I noticed that the car stayed at 1/4 temp, rather than a tad under the 1/2 mark. It's been about 2 years since I've had the radiator done, and I assume there would have been a new thermostat with that. The heat was running the whole time because it's in the 30s here, but I've never known the car to not get up to about 1/2 temp. Do you guys think it's the thermostat, or something else?

I paid attention today as I was leaving work, and I believe that the smoke is actually white. I mean, of course in the morning I get my ritual blue smoke puff, but (and who knows because it's cold) it seems like when it has trouble starting up the smoke is white.
I'm wondering if it's possibly the ignition coil, or the Iridium plugs. I've had compression tests done pretty regularly throughout my ownership of the car, and they've always come back good.
Only my normal P0455 and P0410 codes are showing.
