If you drive around town, the I'd leave it alone.

But if you leave town often, I'd replace it for the peace of mind. Not that hard. The Turbo hose is about $8.

My 1999 HPT has an oil cooler just port of where that motor mount is - is there an oil cooler on the turbo 1998 or I having a stupid-flareup again?

There isn't.

Well, except there is. 98 has the oil cooler in the radiator. The 99-00 design is far superior, be grateful!

It's two more hoses and a metal manifold across tha back of the engine on my 99 HPT.

I recently degreased so will try to take a picture.

were you able to get the picture? i'm in the middle of replacing these guys but didn't do my research, so the turbo inlet hose listed in the first post is going back to FCP.

attached is what i've got from below, also on a 99 T5. i don't know which hoses i'm looking for. there's a whole lot of rubber down here and my wallet is frightened at the prospect of replacing all of it.

i think we've also got that oil cooler on the engine block, whose coolant hoses may need replacement. mine are not looking too good. anyone have a p/n and a source for these?

99+ owners, fyi: the oil cooler hoses pictured above can be had from IPD for ~25 each.

guess i get to wait for these to come in too, and suddenly i'm ~$60 poorer. still, it seems preferable to the oil line nightmare from the earlier cars.

does anyone know how the turbo coolant inlet hose or hoses look on a 99 T5? from what i can see, it looks like i have to remove the intake hoses from the airbox to the turbo in order to get at them (from above; they look more or less inaccessible from below).

Just a heads up to anyone who has not specifically looked at their turbo coolant inlet hose (and because of its location that may be many of us), check it out! It's easily seen from under the car. Because of heat and the oil that drips on it, it probably needs to be changed more than any of the other coolant hoses.

The left side of the picture is the skinnier end of the hose on my 855 and when squeezed feels like a ripe plum--real close to springing a leak. I already had the turbo air hose removed to make room for changing the heater core hoses which gave me access to the hose clamp bolt at the fat end of the hose. I had to remove the banjo bolt because the bolt on the hose clamp at the skinny end of the hose was so close to the top of the transmission I couldn't get a socket over it.

It's definately worth being aware of the health of this hose. I think I narrowly dodged a headache on this one. Thanks for the writeup!

Was checking underhood area today and noticed a slightly wet area at BLUE arrow.
Coolant in reservoir level is fine.
No coolant on the ground.

So I moved the clamp a bit to the passenger side so it "bites" on another part of the hose.

I remember reading somewhere that some people had corroded pipe issue, which I hope is not my case because replacing this metal pipe is not the definition of "fun" for me.

Anyone here has corroded pipe issue?

Maybe a bit of hi temp silicon will seal it if all else fails. I inspected my hose, it's original and no weeping

For the turbo inlet hose (one closest to the turbo) do you need to remove the heat shield
For access? Can you purchase new copper o rings?
