1999 V70 Shifter Up Arrow Problem

Try it with the car running in Park. The Autel menu setup is goofy and even different between the s70 and v70 and 99 or 2000 even though they're mechanically identical.... So try 2000 v70 or s70.

Great minds think alike. I did. I tried it for 98,99,2000 for S70 and V70 Automatics. Funny thing is, all the other selections (All of them) show a TCM and yield NO CODES. BUT, the 1999 V70 Auto has NO Option for a TCM. This is weird that the one I need has no TCM and all the other settings show No Codes for the Tranny. ?????

The naturally aspirated V70/S70 2000 is a 5 speed so they need to have different menus.

I can't figure out what the menu problem is. There is a EOBD menu on the EU-702 series scanner which finds all the engine and transmission computers without having to tell it which vehicle. Does the MD-801 have this menu?

If you're still stuck after this step I would try reseating the transmission computer with battery disconnected and see if this helps.

I disconnected the Battery, reattached it and still no TCM recognizable on 1999 V70 mode even if the engine is running or engine off and in the ignition on position. There is a generic mode called OBDII on the MD-801 that does work on this vehicle and returns "no codes found" for TCM. I was told that if the up arrow is blinking and it is obviously in limp mode (3rd or 4th gear) there has to be a code recorded on the TCM. All the great help has made me feel like I'm not going crazy with what I am seeing. I'm missing something here. With that said, any other suggestions?

If you can't find the TCM why don't you try reseating the TCM?

If there's corrosion on the terminals this may explain the module's inability to be read and the blinking arrow.

Just disconnect the battery then undo the top of the plastic cover in the engine bay and yank on the unit marked "Temic". Then clean the terminals with contact cleaner making sure all of them are dead straight before reseating it firmly.

Get a Android phone with Torque app loaded and a bluetooth reader. It may read and clear your car better than your particular scanner which for some reason doesn't have the right menus.

You didn't answer about the EOBD menu I asked twice about.

Sorry, I labeled the answer to the EOBD wrong. On this particular scanner, its called OBD II / EOBD. I was just calling it the OBD II mode. This EOBD analyzing mode tells me its reading the TCM, but says there are no codes present and there is a reset option. I did reset the TCM this way, but the blinking arrow is still there. I'm heading into the garage to look at the TCM and connections. Back in a few

Yes, that's the strange thing. I can see the ABS and SRS. I even reset the SRS light after I fixed a lose wire for the side airbag. ABS is good. All this when in the Volvo 1998 V70 library mode specific for this engine...But NO TCM there.

The plastic cover is directly next to the coolant reservoir and next to the fender.
