Re: VIDA 2012B VMWare Player Image
As of 3/29/13 the files are still available. I installed this on a brand new Windows 8 computer with 8 gig of memory, configured the VM to run at 4 gig and it is amazingly useful. I had an old Vadis disc that I never could get to run clean but this VM setup is really quite good. There's a way to get rid of the Genuine Advantage message if you want to keep the XP up to date. My strongest thanks to the member who made this available to the masses. I keep it up and running all the time and install AVG and a firewall just in case.

Mine's running well also. I have less at RAM 512mb but it still works great. I also installed AVG and turned off Genuine Advantage notification in Windows updates.
I'm looking for a set of Mac OS10.5 files as I want to have a play with that too.
Thanks again to the OP

I successfully downloaded and installed (4/03/2013) on an old Pentium 4 3.06ghz desktop with 1 gig of ram. It worked well for the little while I played with it, It ran a little slow.
I installed with VMware 3.0 because my pc wouldn't install ver 4 or 5. The VMware has the ram slider greyed out also.
If I wanted to put this on a laptop and actually connect it to my car, would I need a usb OBDII wire?
Thanks.

Its going to be slow with 1GB of RAM for sure. Your own OS needs 512MB at least, VMWare player easily 70MB and then another 512MB for the "guest".mandomex1 wrote:I successfully downloaded and installed (4/03/2013) on an old Pentium 4 3.06ghz desktop with 1 gig of ram. The VMware machine needs to be completely shutdown (not paused) in order to change the RAM allocated to it. That said with 1GB it might not let you...
You need a DICE or similar adapter to run diags. A "generic" OBD II interface wont work with VIDA, but you will be able to pull most common codes using common software. You can get knock-off DICE adapters off ebay for around $200 I think. I have yet to try one myself.

Mine still works and is bug free. I saved the image complete to a portable drive so I can share it or reload it.

Thanks so much for going to all of this work!
I am able to concatenate the files using Keka or Stuffit Expander into one 6.4GB .z7 file. That bit works fine. But when I try to expand the concatenated file, it fails using 3 different expanding tools. Corrupt file? Redownload them all?
My dream:
To run this image in VMWare Fusion or Parallels on my MacBook just for grins.
Thoughts?
