98 V70 GLT (silly) Dome light weirdness

So here's the deal: the kick-panel lights work correctly when the doors are opened and the remote locks work fine, so I know the door sensor is working correctly. That said, the rocker switch for the dome lights seems to have three options (from left to right): Dome lights on, dome lights off, dome lights on. None of those does what I want, which is to switch the dome lights on when the door is opened.

This is driving me mad!

You probably need a new/used upper switch assy, they do go bad

I've live with the same problem for 2 years now. Thought it was the missing Alarm Module controlling the lights as the footwell and door lights are good but all the upper ones can't be controlled by the doors. What consist of the Upper Switch Assembly? Thanks.

Have not dealt with that assembly but is there a circuit board or just rocker switches that can be taken apart and cleaned like the window switches?

Sometimes you can, sometimes not, but there are many available in JYs for a couple of bucks, it's MUCH easier just swap out
