Just for reference, the fiddling around and unsuccessful installations had me stumped with VIDA 2012a on Windows XP,, but I realized that no amount of editing the registry was going to convince the VIDA install script that I was running XP Pro when I was actually runnin XP Home, so I first dropped back to BEFORE my first install with the windows restore facility, upgraded to Win XP Pro, and then installed with no problems.

Restore points are your friend when messing with VIDA installs!
1982 240DL: Drove it 32 years and 1.5 million miles (sold, even still had mint leather!)
2001 v70 2.4T: The most expensive $1500 car I ever bought ("Volvo Turbo" - what an oxymoron!) (sold)
2004 v70: Far less fatally-flawed v70 - It served well (sold)
2010 v50: Smaller, slightly sportier wagon. Its got a spoiler, so I upgraded with sway bars!

Thanks, but you guys are way beyond me...I just want to run an old 2005 version VADIS without the DICE and was hoping there was a way to get around setting the system clock back to before the "expiration date".........

As I said earlier 2012A runs fine on Windows 7 Pro without using any form of compatibility mode, why mess about with earlier versions?? - I don't think any version will work if the PC is using Vista - Mike

thanks Mike. I went to the volvospeed link and saw they were talking about getting VIDA with DICE and it was around $130. Can you buy the 2012A software without the tool? How much does that cost?

Problems with installing Vadis on Win7:

Changing from XP to Win7 I have had problems with installing a lot of the old software I needed at work.
The solution was to use Win7 Pro or better and add the XP extension.

http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/wind ... ws-xp-mode

This extension allows most, but not all, programs that ran on XP to run on Win7.

I recently bought an ebay VIDA CD for $12 and the installation instructions are way to complicated for a computer illiterate like me.
There is the possibility that I'm making it more complicated than it needs to be.
Between other projects I'm working on and it, It's taken a few days so far and I haven't gotten to start the program.
