98 v70 glt.
No start today. Tries to turn over, a click and a whirring sound. Dash lights come on, fuel gauge goes up, but nothing. I'm not hearing much from the starter.
The battery is a little over 3 years old, the alternator is 4 years old. As far as I know the starter has never been replaced.
Has been running fine all winter in sub zero temps. It started fine 3 days ago but today nothing. Or could it be the fuel pump relay?

First check is what is the voltage at the battery terminal, below 12V the battery hasn't got the charge needed to crank the engine so pull the battery and charge it up then start to check out what the battery voltage is with the engine running, it should be above 13,8 - Mike

A bad alternator will not stop the car from starting, only stop it from charging. A weak battery left alone for 3+ days will cause a no start.
