ETM software

Post by Carter »

Hi, I have a 2002 V70 with ETM issues. I replace the TPS with a spacer contactless and I am still having limped home mode issue. Looking to buy a ETM on eBay and I am trying to match the software . Would anybody know which number is the software version?

Software depends on car where ETM is used. Brand new ETM is sold without any software in it.
Plus ETM software depends on software in the ECM (Engine).
It may happens that even ETM from the same car like your wont work with ETM because of software conflict. So the most you can do is to match ETM number 8644345, Model year and Engine (like B5244S).
If you have DiCE (original or fully chineese clone) I can help transfer ETM software from original to the new one (already did that remotely for some guys).
If you have questions about Volvo firmware ask me. I may know an answer :)

Thank you for your reply. I bought a ETM on eBay that the three numbers under the barcodes matchup perfectly. It's from Michigan and I'm in Pennsylvania.
Not sure what DICE is, but I found it free to download.
Discrete Integrated Circuit Emulator.....if this is what your talking about.
Yes I would like help with that if needed. Thanks again

The correct used ETM should work just fine with no software or fiddling needed

There were programming differences between "01 and "02 for the naturally aspirated V70/S60s when using 8644345 part number. Just make sure your used unit is from the same year. Yours is '02 week 10 build.

One of the indie garages I support had to use a 8644347 from a non turbo V70/S70 ( 5 speed auto only NOT 4 speed) as I found this had exactly the same programming as '01 8644345s.

Go figure!!

Okay I got a new ETM off of eBay and put it in and when I started it runs but it wants to idle at 2000 RPMs. I'm guessing that that's because it has different software on it. So I called the local dealer Bill Gray Volvo in McMurray Pennsylvania and they tell me that it is impossible to reload the software. I am at a total loss now at what to do I'm on a limited budget and need help.

Sounds more like a vacuum leak than software if it runs well over 2000 RPM
Did you use a NEW throttle gasket for starters?
Did you clean the one you bought before installing it?
