Re: Who has the most miles on factory engine?
Just turned over 245,000 miles. No major repairs except for the replacement yellow sticker etm and a new air conditioner. Starting to leak at the cam seals, just did the PCV again so I'll hit those up next. I see no reason why I can't just run this car forever. There are little things here and there, but certainly no show stoppers, knock on wood.

My current Volvo is the 850 and we just bought it cheap a few days ago. It has almost 202k and running great - tho it looks like a slight leak to check out today - but I actually think it is antifreeze. Will know more today as it was too dark to really check it out last night.
Now this is an older and different model but still a Volvo motor -
Years ago I had an 82 Volvo 240 that had over 400k on it. Not sure how much over since the odometer and tachometer were not working for quite some time. Ran beautifully and yes I did have to replace the trans on it as something froze inside within the first week of me buying it used, but I only got rid of the car because of the rust. The previous owner let the rust run wild and so after a couple years of me having it, it wouldn't pass inspection due to rust. Ran like a champ still tho!

Nothing to do with 5 cylinders but I had a 90 240 DL I had bought, sold, bought back and sold again a few years ago.
The first time the odometer had broken way over two years before I bought it at 290,000 miles so I assume it had in the low to mid 300s. The second time was three years later so it must have been in the mid to higher 300s.
Sucker ran like a top!

242k on mine, just drove it ~500 highway miles in a weekend without incident. runs like a top.
my family had an MBZ 380SL that had 300+ kilomiles upon purchase, only we hadn't done a carfax so we thought it was more like 120k as the odometer read. seven years later it threw the timing chain, and that was the end of that car. besides the very advanced wear on the upholstery, the car looked and drove like it had barely cracked a hundred. expensive to fuel and maintain, but that car would last forever if you maintained the timing chain and could afford to keep up with the bosch k-jet system.

When I first replied to this post, I had 183K miles. I'm going to hit 211K Monday and the car has never been running better. I'm now doing 7~8K synthetic oil changes with sometimes a QT added at 5K if I've been flogging it. Knock-on-wood this car is turning into one of my favorites for reliability. Tranny fluid serviced regularly too. I'm actually looking for another 97~98 just to have a spare.

my last 240 had 285K before someone ran a stop sign in front of me, I was planning driving it to 500K.

We have 210,000 miles on our 97 850, just replaced the timing belt, water pump, fixed a leaky thermostat, constant velocity joint/axle, ball joint and exhaust. Overall, the car looks very good and we bought the car new and i do Mobil 1 oil changes very 5,000 miles.
