1996 Volvo 850 GLT Wagon --> Turbo conversion

What do I need to convert this car to a turbo?

Turbo ECM, whole intake/exaust/intercooler/turbo/turbo water cooler/turbo oil/Dash from donor?

I mean, If I buy all these things from a cheap junkyard would all of these things be plug and play? Or do I need a turbo engine as well?

I have a 2.4 N/A engine, I know that the turbo engine is both smaller and has lower compression.

Has anyone done this here?

To do all of that is a ton if work and a lot of headaches, if you are jones'ing for a turbo (dont blame you there) just sell what you have and buy one. And get a 2.3

You would basically need a turbo donor car. It would be cheaper and more reliable to see you non-turbo Volvo an by a T5.

I too was looking into doing a Turbo conversion for my NA, but the link polskamafia mjl provided in the post above made me rethink my plans for the NA. Instead I picked up a Turbo 850 (same color and year as my NA...a lucky find) and have been enjoying the car ever since!

Anyway like others have mentioned, it's best to find a car with the Turbo engine.
