98 V70R AWD-Rack and Pinion Install Problem

I have a 98 V70R which I just installed a remanufactured rack and pinion. I am having a bugger of a time getting the return line fitting from the rack to P/S to thread. I have been reading posts about SMI vs TRW racks and wonder if the fittings may be different. Any pointers would be appreciated.

What was it originally SMI or TRW?
