Ok I want to test for boost leaks because I can't get any boost out of my turbo. I have read a few post about doing the test. I'm confused on whether or not to plug PCV tube. Also wouldn't the engine need to be at top dead center on the timing? I need details and pictures if possible.
I've already used three bottles of bake cleaner looking for vacuum leaks and haven't found any change in idle when doing that. Just for reference.
I'm testing on a 1998 v70 XC
Thanks
1998 v70 xc boost pressure testing
Well I haven't done a pressure test yet, but I just installed new turbo hoses and a new compressor bypass valve with spring. I still can't get boost to read over 3 psi on my boost gauge. I do have a manual boost controller on the car, with it set to max. I thought it would be a better idea to do the test after the new parts were installed. Hopefully this weekend I will get to it.

I did my pressure test this afternoon. I didn't do it in the best of places(at Centennial airport) it was tuff to here with all the air planes taking off. I found a small leak at the idol air control valve and the vacuum tree. No leaks in the turbo hoses. But the shocker was that I found a leak at the weep hole on the intercooler. Air was just blowing through it. I took it off and it looked like someone had cut the end of it off with a hacksaw. So I plugged it up temporarily by tapping the hole and putting a screw in it. I still need to fix the IAC leak and the vacuum tree leak, but even with those small leaks I wasn't able to get boost over 3-4 pounds. I'm about to give up and just drive the dang thing. If any one has a picture of their weep hole fitting please send it to me.
