Hi.
I just bought a China Dice tool and Vida and have it connected after some issues. I got it for my Daughter's 05 XC90. I loaded Vida 2013A on a fresh install of XP Pro SP3 and then the hard drive died that same day. I'm a computer tech for a living so I should have seen that one coming. Even before the fresh load of XP on the same PC Dice would just flash the red light. I did not try a firmware upgrade due to what I saw on here. I loaded 2013A on a laptop with a fresh install of Win 7 Pro 32 bit and still had same flashing red and no communication. Figured what did I have to lose and did firmware check and firmware showed 0.0.0 so I went for broke and updated. Voila, success, it could read the car, I changed seat heater settings successfully, saw the error code for her broken cd changer, etc. so all was well. One thing it won't do though is reset oil change counter for transmission and it won't reset adaptives. It prompts the box, I click VCT2000, another box comes up with a start button and when I hit it it changes from a yellow dot to red and says "operation failed." I had IE10 on the laptop and have rolled it back to 8 but have not had a chance to test it yet. Is there any secret to resetting adaptives? I just had the fluid changed 2 weeks ago and the indie reset adaptives but not sure he reset fluid counter.
Thanks for any insight you might be able to offer.
Rob

Always does that Op failed thing. Go back and check "time since reset" in TCM . You probably just reset them but the op failed box is making you think you did not.

Car must be in Park with ignition in PosII to begin fluid or adaptives reset.
To place car in adapatation engine must be running. Is this the case?

Thank you for the replies. I had the car in position ii with engine off when trying to reset. Do I need to run thru adaptation protocol or is it just a matter of driving it and letting computer re-learn her driving style? I did try to start car and when I did it severed communications with Vida.
Awesome. Thank you for the information. I will give the time since reset a look tonight. Is it possible to kill the always on lights (DRL????) So that it is off, parking and lights with the light switch? Also, is auto lock upon driving away a feature as well? Sorry for the 20 questions, looking forward to playing with it some tonight. The other night it was 1:00AM when I finally had everything loaded.

Of course choose Resetting the Adapatation before Control Module Adaptation.
There is a drive cycle found in Vehicle Communication-TCM-Advanced tab-Control Module Adaptation Click Continue icon then continue again. Fluid must be warm enough to begin drive cycle.
The engine is running and in P when you begin the process and the display shows FLUID TEMP HIGH or words to that effect. During this time gear positions show up on display when in D and you're looking for the orange triangle on each shift which is optimal. Continue each phase until 4 orange triangles in succession for each shift ie. 1-2 shift then 2-3 shift, then 3-4 shift then 4-5 shift. If the orange triangle has lit for any of the shifts at a particular rev range concentrate on the next shift.
The exact drive cycle is detailed within the menu.

Thank you for that information. I will have a look at that when I get in from work tonight. As far as the last "adaptive reset counter" where would I locate that? I went thru all the tcm options including parameters and advanced and saw no place that would indicate time since adaptive were last reset. I am trying to confirm it reset after it said "operation failed.". Vida will take some work to learn. : )

There's no counter of time or miles/kilometres since last adapatation that I'm aware of. If an operation fails it's probably gear lever in incorrect position.
