2005 V50 glove box handle doesn't operate

Post by dcjr »

I got the glove box door open by removing the side panel, reaching in and pushing in the catch pin while pulling up on the glove box handle....once open, I confirmed something is broken within the handle because moving it up and down doesn't cause either catch pin on the door to move. 1. Is it possible to fix the handle or will I have to buy an entire door? 2. How do I remove the door? Thanks for any help you can offer.

With the door open, remove clip under side panel, then 5 screws. Finally 2 clips @ top edge. Per Haynes#4731. I haven't done it.

tks for reply...here's a tip for those in the same boat. Went to a local junk yard, peeled the cabin-facing front of the glove box door off (it's glued on), took the handle mechanism out, put it in mine and glued shut with platics glue - make sure to use clamps to get a good seal.
