2004 S40 1.9T B4 Servo Cover. What a pain, but worth it.

Last weekend, I made the jump to swap out the servo cover. I got the kit and got ready to do the job when I noticed that the holes that you screw the supplied bolt into weren't there. That aside, it's in a crazy tight spot that most lock ring pliers can't get to. Back to the drilled and tapped holes for the bolt, or lack thereof in my case, I would say the ability to use that bolt would have saved about two hours. After completion, I did a drain and fill on the trans. Wow! After the simple "relearn" that the instructions say to complete after installation, everything shifts smooth. All gears engage like a lower mileage trans and there hasn't been any 2-3 shift flare. Not once! This cheap upgrade is extremely valuable, but a pain to install without the ability to use the supplied bolt as a fulcrum. See pics. Has anyone else come across this problem with the bolt holes????

Oh great, another part I didnt know my car even had that I will now worry about everytime I drive.

So the symptoms are 2-3 gear shift flare? Does 'flare' mean a hesitation to shift?

If I am in slow street traffic and I am going about 20-30mph, right on the edge of where the trans would usually try to either upshift or downshift, I get some unsual shifting. If I hit the gas a split second before an upshift or let off the gas right before a downshift it acts weird, almost like it slips a little. But I just figured the computer was confused and was probably normal.

A flare is the time when the rpms jump up suddenly, between the second and third gear change. It feels like a slipping trans. It's very noticeable.
