2014 S60T5: anyone got hard shifting?

Post by carboncow »

Wife picked up the S60 T5 about 4 months ago...it's an OK car but the engine is a bit buzzy for me...reminds me of an expensive civic! I'll stay with my old school XC70 and V70T5 for now!

It's been in the shop for about 6 minor electrical issues and I won't complain since the dealer is about 1 mile form my wifes job and they pick her up and give her a loaner no problem. She's noticed some hard shifts mostly on downshifts from 3/2.

Anyone experiencing this or do you know if there are any new software updates that address this?

To be honest the guys at the dealer ship have been half wrong on their knowledge of things about this car so I figure I'd ask here first before I bug them next week.

I know this isn't what you want to hear but with each new vehicle comes new glitches that take a while to sort out as feedback from dealers filters through.

As soon as the feedback is compiled the engineers work out how to improve the behaviour of the car, usually by means of slipping in software updates when you take her in for routine servicing.

DEFINITELY mention the hard shifts to the dealer as you don't want the transmission to sustain any more shock than necessary. They may already have an update but is is a little early in the year.

Thanks and I do get the new car experience...hence why I"m fine with used cars that have often been vetted. I can tell you stories of my sister-in-law and a new BMW being back 20 times in the first year...no thanks!

We bought this car at one dealer and had it serviced at another. There was actually a NO SALE PERMITTED on our car unless it had updates software for a low voltage (reported) issue and dealer #2 said dealer #1 should have never sold it w/o the updated software. We inquired to dealer #1 and they admitted the mistake...fact is they have been selling as quick as they can keep them in with some competitive leases.

We've had 3 trips to the dealer for updates software in 4 months...boo! You think in this day and age all systems would get updates to the latest "firmware" when you go in...but nope only for the issue at hand!
