electronics on radiator

Post by Tylerberg45 »

1998 Volvo s70 t5. What is the little pump thing on the driver aide of the radiator for? And what lines plug into it? I can't seem to find a diagram. Also the secondary air pump under the battery tray. What line connects to that?

SAS pump has a line to the airbox and another line to the silver canister at the exhaust manifold at the back of the engine.

Cruise control pump is under the battery, is that what you mean?

Could it be the EVAP purge valve you seek?

One electrical connector, two hose nipples.

Cruise control makes sense considering it doesn't work. ill worry about this later. I'm currently in the middle of a motor swap and failed to take pictures of where stuff is supposed to go. It runs perfectly but seems to be a little low on power and is getting bad gas mileage. Its possible that its the purge valve.. It is a pump of some sort it moves air and is mounted at an angle on the fan shroud. Idk what lines are supposed to be connected to it.

It sounds like you are describing the purge valve but snap a picture of the area in question and post it back.

Is it black plastic or a metal part?

If it's plastic...it's what Lee said.If it's metal...it is part of SAS system. Both have electrical connectors.

What does this connect to? doesn't seem to have any vacuum or coolant going through it. There is a plug on the end of it that i put just for kicks and giggles

#1 attaches to the vacuum tree area at intake manifold. That is vacuum for the fuel pressure regulator.

#2 attaches to the output of the SAS air pump (under the battery tray)
#3 is the input for the SAS air pump.
#4 ??????????
#5 - attaches to the radiator bracket, you can actually see the mount on the left hand side of your picture. That is the EVAP purge valve, not a pump.
