I have been helped by salvaged parts enormously.
There have been times where I had missed out on a part while not having the proper tool on hand.
I have now condensed most all the tools I use, cordless power tools included, into three bags with shoulder straps. (That gets them in the door.)
I then rent a wheel barrow for $1 to roll my tools to any vehicle in the yard.
This method has served me well for the past year and a half or so, since I have it somewhat perfected.
I seriously bring a Bosch cordless angle grinder, (2) Bosch, 1/2" drive impact. One @ 500 ft. lbs. and a hammer drill. They all use the same lithium battery, so I only carry one.
I agree this is not for everybody, but I was getting frustrated when I would go back to get a part and it was gone.
I did save up for the luxury of these tools and they make things so much easier.

If I need to cut anything like exhaust pipe I bring a double bladed hacksaw. Just put two blades on one-with teeth facing in opposite directions.
As well there are times when you have to improvise.
Pulling a door panel on a Ford Focus-all metric or Torx fasteners EXCEPT the two screws holding the door handle on. Requires a deep ¼" socket which of course I didn't bring. My multi bit screwdriver made the ultimate sacrifice...

Points to ponder:
When you are dead, you do not know you are dead.
It's only painful for others.
Same applies to stupid.

Ive been thinking about adding the bosch 1/2" cordless impact that Matt has pointed out is only $238 @amazon.com. I really need a solid cordless unit for those ridiculously stubborn suspension parts and such. How do you like your bosch impact wrench?

I had used the NI-CAD drills for drilling rivet points @ 500 or so per day to build custom flight cases over 18 years ago.
When the lithium-Ion line came out, I stood back for a couple years to watch the response.
I dove in completely. Seeing the battery compatibility, I have un-tethered tools to ease my work.
Also, the jobsite radio that contains a battery charger, 4 outlet Breaker equipped A/C outlet, and multiple input sources for audio, aside from the AM/FM tuner built in with 50 watt system, surround speakers and sub-woofer.
I use the tools for other projects, so it was worth the investment in my situation.

Ben, HP Pro Book 6530? I support a bunch of those at work. The updated models with the ten key pad are nice. Afraid the NSA is watching with that tape on the webcam? Loaded up with VIDA to interrogate your pick a part subjects? Ok I know most yards have long since pulled batteries and keys by the time we see them, it was just funny to see a familiar notebook on the bench. And yes, my company Pro Book does have VIDA and VADIS.

Do you know of any decent Volvo yards near Rusellville? My Dad is in Dardanelle.rspi wrote:I had a couple of Pull-A-Parts in my last city, Little Rock.
