2008 V70 MK3 D5 Auto, Squeak at wheel speed, off side front
Shutting the throttle at 70mph for an island suddenly heard loud squeak / rubbing sound from front offside wheel, gearbox in 'D', no braking or turn on. So far removed brake caliper and disc and back plate. Rotating the shaft by hand can feel resistance at one point where the squeak occurs which appears to come from the hub / CV joint area, CV boot's are in mint condition, can't feel any slack. Going away on holiday so can't investigate further. Any one experienced the same. Car has done 44K miles. Thanks in anticipation.

Found it.
The center baring anchor is fixed to the engine with M10 * 35mm screws. The lower one of these worked loose and was hitting the inner CV joint casing. Not impressed with the screw working loose, was it ever done up? Also there was no evidence of any thread lock.
A tip. There is no need to use tool 9997310 to remove the drive shaft. You can achieve the same by removing the whole control arm, 3 * M14 screws. If you want to replace the swivel it can then be attacked using conventional tools.
Bits required for 1958 V70 (Other models use different sizes):
Qty 1 - Drive shaft bolt (70.3mm) 30741287
Qty 2 - Lock nut M14 30723313 (Track rod end & lower steering swivel)
Qty 2 - Flange lock nut M14 987886 (Control arm to chassis)
