I have a pretty loaded 2005 XC90 V8 with 64K miles. I bought it CPO with 5K miles in 2006, so we're only averaging about 6000-7000 miles per year. Now I'm trying to decide to do one of the following:
1 - Sell or Trade before expensive repairs start to occur (the repair costs for my '99 XC70 with 200K miles became too much and I finally sold it)
2 - Keep and buy the Volvo Increased Protection Plan (or some comparable plan)
3 - Keep and roll the dice on future repairs.
I'm not particularly handy with cars. I can handle the simple (oil changes, bulb replacement, etc...) but that's about it. I know the plans are expensive, but so are repairs.
Little nagging issues here and there can add up. If I can get a reasonably priced warranty, I'd rather spend a fixed price up front, than continue to pay smaller repair bills only to get hit with the big one down the road.
I've read about the Yamaha V8 issue (and my Volvo mechanic mentioned it as well) and this has me worried.
I've received the following quotes from Volvo, Carchex and Endurance. All have 30 day/1000 mile waiting periods.
Volvo VIP - 4 years, 28,000 miles - $100 Deductible - $4650
Volvo VIP - 4 years, 28,000 miles - $200 Deductible - $3330
Carchex - 4 years, 48,000 miles - $100 Deductible - $4417
Endurance - 4 years, 42,000 miles - $100 Deductible - $4471
Do any of you have any experience with any of these plans?
Any advice is welcome.
Thanks!
