While I'm waiting for my O2 sensor, timing belt, and coolant temp sensor to get here I've been doing standard spring cleaning and bulb replacement etc. etc...
My brother has a 93 850 and it has a key fob system.. for whatever reason he has decided he doesn't want to keep it or even get another one but my father gave me the option to take what I want from the car before he either scraps it or sells it.
My car doesn't have the black box behind the glove box and I was wondering if I could just take the unit out of his car and bolt it into mine?
And while I'm at it
Is there anything else worth keeping? I would obviously check the quality before hanging onto it.
Thanks
Nick

As long as the 93 black box is compatible with your 97, switching the unit over should do it. Certainly if you swap over the black box from a later year car it will work, I've done that myself, I just don't know if the 93 technology/system was different. You may have to go through the programming again.
Blower motor is worth grabbing while you are in there, overall there are a ton of parts that are the same and are worth keeping.

I don't think that key fob system will work. If your car had it, your box is on top of the cluster I think.
