The milage you see on display will the higher of the CEM or the DIM as the milage in lowest is written up to the milage of the higher of those two.
VIDA will not address that problem even with download capability.

Can someone tell if VIDA can read the CEM stored miles? I have replaced my DIM at 100k miles with a used one that has 170k miles. I want the buyer to be able to check the actual miles when I will sell the car.

Mine assumed the higher milage showing in VIDA/DICE.

When I moved to a DIM with higher mileage the who system assumed this higher mileage and this goes along with what I was told, but...

My buddy down the road lost his DIM and when he put in a used one he his DIM shows the lower mileage, but I have not looked in VIDA/DICE to see what the CEM system says. So I'm still confused as I was told the DIM would always show the higher of the two.

Although my car acquired 60K miles over night it really didn't bug me as these cars are 10+ years old and such mileage would not really effect value much but could effect confidence in a sale.

So Vida in your car shows the higher miles from the donor DIM car?

From what I've read, the DIM (cluster) will show the miles of the donor car from which it was pulled, either lower or higher.

That is correct...my took the higher donor DIM, so it follows what you have heard.

Do you know if the CEM still holds the other value, I would assume.

EDIT: I should add, I was only bitter at the time as the info I got (when I did it) is the DIM would assume the correct value from the CEM. Since it didn't I just assumed (and think I read too) that the DIM assumes the higher of the two values between the CEM and DIM. Based on your info (and my buddy down the road) it appears the DIM holds it value as it travels from vehicle to vehicle...but I"m sure the CEM says differently.

From what I've read on forums, the real car miles are stored in the CEM and this number doesn't change when a new used DIM is installed. The problem is when we put the car for sale. Not easy to convince a buyer the actual miles are much lower than what them DIM is displaying :) I guess the only way to prove the actual miles when selling the car is to show a Carfax or similar..

You can have the miles on the DIM matched to vehicle at the dealer.

Do you know for sure?

According Jimmy57 back in the day he told me that they usually had to network into the car from Volvo HQ to fix such an issue!

My indie repairer here in Melbourne said it was a commonplace thing he had sent his customers to perform on a regular basis. He had been doing it for a couple of years now.

As far as having the service performed myself that is a no.

Thanks, good info for others to have. Jimmy was a pretty high level tech or engineer with Volvo corporate and when I was researching this some time ago...he told me that. Something about techs from HQ having to hack into the database on the CEM or such! Good to read it may be doable for some.
