I'm thinking of buying a decent OBD2 scanner (Autel MD802 MaxiDiag Elite Scan Tool) which can show ABS codes.
Does anyone know if the ABS/TRACS codes are included in the OBD2 system for a '97 Volvo 850? Obviously the scanner can only read what is actually coming through the OBD2 port.
- at least a dozen Volvos back to 1965 544
- almost cured of "Brit car disease" (1996 LR Disco 1)
- restomod 1965 Willys wagon
- DD is 2012 Nissan Leaf (sensible)

When the mechanic ran mine it showed him what the abs light was on for. When I ran it with my cheap obd-2 reader it didn't show them.

Vol FCR and a VAG cable. Generic OBD2 will not read them.

Have you tried a known good ABS unit? It is common for the unit to develop dry joints there is a fix on the board for that.
