If you have the horn, you have an alarm.
There is no horn confirmation on Volvos.
I would not worry too much about theft, Not many people want to steal a Volvo

thanks JRL, that does answer my question.
Is there a way to test the alarm to ensure it works properly?
i live in an urban area with car break-ins pretty regular, and though my Volvo might not be much to look at, it is my pride and joy!

Based on looking through the parts catalogs, there were three versions sold for the 850, and the most recent moved the receiver to be integral with the alarm relay up above the driver's foot well.
I grafted a 93's system into my 96 by buying the parts separately. You just need to make sure your fob matches your receiver.

And where do I start? I did open the box. I came here for help and don't to waste time going down the wrong path. Any help would be great. Thanks
