1997 850 Antenna Problems

Post by Huskyhunter »

So I have a 1997 850 GLT Turbo and the antenna quit going up and down. It still made sounds like the motor was running but nothing happened. I turned the radio off and the motor started working and I pushed the antenna down and the motor caught it and it went almost all the way down. I turned the radio back on and the antenna went up all the way. Radio off again, it went all the way down. The only problem I have now is when it goes all the way up the motor keeps going and it makes this terrible sound and I don't know how to fix this. Any ideas?

Search MVS for power antenna, and you will find information on repairing these units. I have always opted to pull one from a donor vehicle at the junk yard. My local yard has a very good return policy if the donor part didn't meet my expectations. I don't think I paid more than $35 for the complete assembly. I have a couple that I may try to repair, but as of yet I have not tried to open one up.

Below is a link to one of the repair posts.
