Ben, I put in a 628 a couple years ago, but I didn't notice any difference. It may be that a bottleneck, or the MBC, is masking any changes the 628 made.

I would imagine the MBC is overriding any difference in the boost mapping.matthew1 wrote:Ben, I put in a 628 a couple years ago, but I didn't notice any difference. It may be that a bottleneck, or the MBC, is masking any changes the 628 made.
I haven't installed an alternate boost control so I should see some difference with an R ECU hopefully.

I dropped in the 628 R ECU today.
After driving it shortly last week with the 072, I did notice a difference.
Now, with the 628 unit at around 2,500 rpm while the boost is coming on, it fells like a second wave of boost kicks in for around three seconds or so. I look down and I am at 60 mph.
The fact that I changed to a 3" N/A intake manifold and 3" air intake to turbo seem to have added some quicker throttle response, spool and likely a few horsepower.( IPD says about 10 just for the air tube to turbo.)
I feel a definite difference as a result of these simple bolt ons and drop in. I believe the R ECU added something overall as well.
Now if it will only get warm out. I still have to sort out the power issue to my ECC.

I would be happy to put a list together and itemize the parts for you.epukerob wrote:Matthew/Ben - It would be great to get a full run-down/list of these mods and parts to look for. Or is this summarized elsewhere on the site?
I had just returned from work out of town , and recovering. I'll start on that later today. I just finished shipping a set of white injectors out that I had leftover from my fun.

Thanks Ben! I also notice my 98 C70 (2.3L HPT) already has "white" injectors - is there a spec or p/n for these? I figger to support ~300HP they would need to be 42~45 lb/hr rated at ~40psig. Any details available on those "white" goodies anywhere??

Here are a few things to look at while I compile a list for you.
The white injectors are PN 0280155766. You can see their statistics on the chart located here.
http://www.fuelinjector.citymaker.com/F ... Rates.html
And here.

Whites are 350cc.
Blues are supposed to be 395cc.
Greens 0 280 155 968 are 440cc.
I will get back soon.

I have a comprehensive list. Part numbers can be researched.
Most everything was bolt on. The only modification needed was a tap into the manifold to take vacuum to the turbo.
I did also tighten the waste gate actuating rod two full turns while I was in the area.
I still have an exhaust manifold from an '04 S60R that I may install over the summer. If so I will likely attack those heater core hoses, and core itself. Maybe even a 19T. We will see, it is getting to be scary acceleration as it is. List of parts I had used:
White injectors.
N/A manifold from '98 S70.
3" N/A throttle body from '94 Sedan. (does not need to be year specific.)
960 N/A throttle plate.
Bosch "628" R ECU from a '96 855 R.
Aftermarket pieces would include:
Snabb 3" silicone throttle body intake tube adapter for turbo.
As a personal addition Snabb 3" aluminum intake tube from the air box to the turbo. W/3" silicone adapter hoses.
FCP sport silicone intercooler hoses.
Also added a Snabb upper IAC hose for good measure. (looks good too)

I already have a NA intake manifold lying around and a 960 throttle/body plate is easily attainable. Seems like a nice addition to my T5 motor/turbo/ecu swap with white injectors. Instead of tapping a third intake manifold hole for the turbo vacuum, why not just use one of the throttle body "tree" options?
So Should I use the throttle body itself from the 960 or just the plate in a 850 TB on a 850NA intake Manifold, also have you done the NA cams mod?
