2003 XC90 AWD chain drive oil change/blown trans seal?

Just went to change the oil in my chain drive, removed the magnetic plug just rear of the right front drive axle and a ton of fluid started spilling out. I think it was transmission fluid! I put it back in fast! As I understood it this plug is a fill to port like that of a differential.

Am I all messed up, or is the rear seal in the trans shot, and blowing fluid into the chain drive?

If gear oil got into the transmission I know its not long for this world.

I think it really may be time to trade this one in……..finally!
