shift lock over ride

As of late I have to use the shift lock over ride button coming out
of park.What would I be looking for when I take this job on?

The solenoid that is activated when you press the brake pedal. You'll have to take off the center console of the car, the solenoid should be easy to identify once you have everything out.

It's one of three parts:
The brake switch as was mentioned, the microswitch under the console or the solonoid for that switch.
Mine just went (96R), it was the brake switch, the cheapest and easiest one to replace

Selector (micro) switch looks like this:

Remember there are TWO switches, the brake switch and the microswitch under the car, make sure you don't start replacing everything, find out what's broke
