1998 V70 AWD Parking Brake Pics

Just finished putting new brakes all around the V70, and I can't get the parking brakes to function properly. When the shoes are installed there is significant play between the cable-actuated lever device and the shoe seat, which results in the shoe not moving much if at all when the lever is pulled. I think I may have been shipped incorrect shoes - perhaps for FWD? Problem is, my son hauled all the scrap parts away to the metal recycler as soon as they hit the shop floor, so I can't compare. Does anyone have pics of the proper AWD shoes? I did a Google search, but the parts shops seem to use a generic image that appears identical for FWD and AWD in spite of different part number.

OK, found some pics on IPD's site. I clearly have the FWD shoes. The contact location for the actuating link is offset significantly behind the front face of the shoe on the FWD, while it's nearly flush with the AWD.

Did you adjust each brake using the star-wheel after installing the shoes and rotors? They should be adjusted so they just barely drag on the drum, so when you pull the e-brake lever, it doesn't have much (if any) slack to take up.

But yes, gotta make sure you have the right shoes first.

The Pro Parts Sweden ones from FCP are actually decent, I've used them a couple of times despite the brand being a bit cheapy. Genuines are somewhat expensive I think.

Yeah, I'm familiar with the adjustment procedure, but it had no effect with the wrong shoes. Must modify or replace these FWD shoes first...

I might have a set of the correct shoes in my parts bin which don't fit my FWD 99.

I may have listed them for sale in the parts forum, along with part number.

Since your from Canada, I will gift them to if you like the Leafs....
