Buy some Monroe struts or the Gabriel by themselves. Then buy some oem spring seats and some decent upper mounts, take the mess of parts to a shop and they will generally mount the stuff up for about $40 or less.

It is a good deal, but even though I have a nice clam shell spring compressor and do my struts myself I don't like going back twice because of an aftermarket spring seat.

I don't think you understand what he's saying
Bring all the new parts and someone will assemble them OFF THE CAR for $40 or so, 1/2 hour job at most with the right tools

That's exactly what I was saying. The struts are easy to take off. Take them off yourself and take the struts in to have them assembled.

These mounts are Raybestos brand, lasted maybe 4000 miles, 1 year.

Use nothing but Volvo mount and volvo bearing plate or IPD high quality stuff. You don't want to do this job again in a year and pay for alignment again.

There are many posts recently about the Gabriel ReadyMount strut kits. I wouldn't put them on my car simply because I have never seen an aftermarket spring seat last. But a few people who post here have them. They haven't failed on anyone yet and until enough people try them, we won't really know if they are any good. Up to you if you want to check it out.

Folks, I am going to talk to my wife tonight to see if she wants to keep her Volvo. If so, I'll order these and the stabilizer links and do her front end. I'm going to need to do her rear shocks too. 1998 S70 Base. At this price point, the suspension work, TB change and other minor stuff might make it worth keeping the car. I'll find this posting and update if and when I use these on her car, a car we don't intend to keep for a million years, just a 2 yr or so run.

There is a misconception that dealer, Bilstein parts are expensive.
They are not.
They will cost a tiny bit more up front but on the long run, you don't have to redo the suspension any time soon (for another 100K). The ride is comfortable and you will save money.

Save a little more money and go with:
- Volvo or INA spring seat, and bearing.
- Bilstein TC strut is VNE-4579-BE, about $110/each.

Tons of info in forum...

This is excellent advice
