Lubricate valves?
Is it necessary/crucial to lubricate valves when re-installing them? I've already got the springs and keepers back in, and would rather not do everything over.

I would, but thats just me. When I put my 2000 S80 head back together I used the Lucas Oil assembly lube on the valve stems, and lifters. I had just installed new valve stem seals and didn't want them to run dry for the first few minutes. It couldn't hurt, especially if you cleaned the head washing any residual oil out. Lack of lubrication is only going to wear parts with metal on metal contact.
