I wouldn't let them check my tires, let alone touch any other part of the car. Doesn't matter if it's Jiffy Lube or whoever...they're all the same in my book.
The last time I hit one up was in 1999 when I drove out to Colorado to go skiing. I had a Dodge truck and needed an oil change before I drove back to Michigan. Bastards didn't put the oil cap back on. Pissed me off when I was in Nebraska and figured it out.

Had exactly the same experience with J Lube last year. Never let them do it before and won't ever again. (it was an emergency for us...on a trip and no tools/ramp to get it done myself and at my limit on miles)
I don't know about criminals and prisoners, but for sure lack of training and competence. I would not touch any of those "quick change" shops.

I don't trust Jiffy Lube with any station vehicle I care for, especially when it has hand controls. If I can't do it myself, there's some independent mechanics I trust and the dealer. Worth it. Especially when rentals with hand controls are $150 a day and wheelchair vans are the only usual option. I'll do my own oil and filter change and be uncomfortable before Jiffy Lube or any non dealer quick lube gets within 30 miles of my car, thank you!

The S-80 and other models using the P-2 chassis and 6-cylinder engine do have a transmission oil filter. It's visible ONLY after you pull the trans fluid pan. It's easy to change (pull straight down, wiggling gently).
The cost for high quality trans fluid sufficient for a change, drain and fill, is around 12-14 qts @ $7.00/qt. to $10.00 qt. Filter (same as many GM cars) is about $16 / $20.00 qt. A new reusable gasket for the pan is about $15.00 to $21.00 (partsgeek.com). So, approximately, the full fill after complete drain (impossible to get it ALL out, cooler, lines, torque convertor) is around 7.2 qts. If trans fluid is really dirty/burned (look--dark?, smell--burnt? and feel--grittiness? inner surface of pan--super fine grit??) you should do a drain and fill. No matter which route you take, if this is the first recent or only flush, be sure and drop that pan and clean the bottom surface and replace the filter.
There are many posts on that topic (drain and fill vs complete flush). You are almost certain to have grit (finely ground steel) and should get it all out/off the pan. Clean with something like a brake cleaner. There's a small magnet attached to the inside of the pan. Be sure and clean that thoroughly, too.
All summed up I paid around $120.00 for my parts and about one hour of labor, or 2 hours if you've never done it. Have a LARGE drain pan (or 2 medium pans) and lots and lots of rags. The fluid will run out all over the place (there is no drain plug). Refill the trans with a trans fluid funnel / hose through the dipstick tube.

Jiffy Lube is known to bill for work that is not needed and very likely never even performed according to NBC News report "You Were Robbed": NBC4 I-Team Exposes New "Tricks and Tactics" at Jiffy Lube Stores. http://www.nbclosangeles.com/news/local/You-Were-Robbed-NBC4-I-Team-Exposes-New-Tricks-and-Tactics-at-Jiffy-Lube-Stores-207304771.htmlkgrichwine wrote:Is Jiffy Lube competant enough to change automatic transaxle fluid in a XC70 or should I have a Volvo mechanic do it??
They used hidden cameras at various locations on the car.
