240 Radiator Fan Clutch

92 240, do not know if the fab clutch is OEM. When the car is first started, it pulls a tremendous amount of air through the radiator. If the engine revs are increased, the fan will eventually slow down, as expected. When the engine is left to idle, it seems the fan never again pulls the same amount of air through the radiator, no matter what the coolant temp is. When the engine is shut off, there may be 1-2 revolutions of the fan before it stops turning. Any chance I need to replace the clutch? The car has gotten to the upper range of the temp gage, say when sitting at a drive through window, but not into the red zone.

Have you removed and jumper-ed the "Temp Faker" board?

Not sure what that is, but according to the Haynes manual, for the 92 model year, the electric fan only comes on with the A/C
