2003 XC70 aux brake booster repair

Post by Taimoni »

I noticed this today, this part appears to have crumbled. It is located on the lower right hand side and has spring in it also. Can someone tell me what this is so I can replace. Thanks

it is the electric auxiliary brake booster pump switch. If you clamp it in a vise and use JB weld you can repair it. The tabs age and crack and it comes apart. If you buy a new one it is already epoxy filled to back up the tabs. You use liberal 5 minute JB weld and then let it sit for a couple of minutes to get a little firm and then put one wrap of electrical tape around it. After the epoxy sets you can take the tape off. Sorry for the fuzziness of the pics. I hope you can see the greenish tint to the JB weld quikset that was placed around the cracked area.

Its a 2003. Thanks Jimmy57, that would explain the buzzing noise I was hearing. I will try the In weld.
