New to Volvo with a 1993 440 GL
Hi all. This is my first Volvo I've ever owned. It's a 1993 440 GL hatchback with 150,000 kilometres and cost $1,600 AUD. Its a lovely car to drive and is economical. I reckon it has the power of a 6 and economy of a 4. Trouble I am having is it came with no user manual. Could anyone tell me where the inside recirc button for the A/C is. Is it in or out? Been looking for a manual but can't seem to get one. Also support seems limited in oz as they never sold many apparently. So if anybody knows any sites for parts for this model (either in oz or anywhere) and specs I can get it would be appreceated. Looking forward to a few replies and advice when needed. Cheers all...

Welcome to Matthew's Volvo Site.
Haynes do a workshop manual for the 440 UK model. If you are looking for help with repairs you could buy a copy of the Volvo Aftersales Diagnostics and Information System (VADIS) disc from one of the many sellers on eBay. This does cover a wide range of repairs for your car. The last time I checked on eBay the UK sellers were much cheaper than others and most of them will ship worldwide. You should also be able to source a handbook from eBay.
I have tried to find an answer to your recirc button question but all I can find is "push it in". When the recirc system is engaged the AC cools a lot faster than when it is disengaged so you can probably work it out from that - I hope!
Bill.

Thanks Bill. It appears nobody has another one in aussie as I can't get any help anywhere. I owned a bmw and the support was great via forums etc, but doesn't seem to be that way with the volvo. Love the car though. Oh, is this model compatible with any other for parts?
hi I have a Volvo 440 gl, great little car, the recirc button push it in and it closes off the vents preventing air from outside getting in, when the button is out the vent is open, as far as air con goes have it pushed in for faster cooling, but personally I would not leave it pushed in for lengthy periods, perhaps only as needed, ( that's just my personal opinion). hope this helps,
ps I also have a Volvo 440 se.
