Hello all. Ive just replaced the transmission in my Volvo 850 (non-turbo) following the DIY on the site. Along with that, I decided to pull the engine and replace the timing belt and water pump. After I put everything back, the car would not fire. Actually it did fire up twice for about 5 minutes each and then just die. When I turn the key to the number 2 position, the rpm gauge goes to 2000k rpm and the fuel pump relay (gray one above the fan) keeps buzzing and the car would not start, but it does turn over.
Here is what I tried:
Made sure all electrical and vacuum connections are good.
Re-timed the timing belt.
Check fuel pressure, 43psi on the port.
Removed old fuel and added new fuel.
Got new relays from the junk yard, both the fuel pump (gray above fan) and the yellow fuel pump controller inside the fuse box.
Replaced spark plugs, good spark.
Not sure what else to do. Please help with some ideas. Is there a way to check the wiring to the gray fuel pump relay?
Thanks.

I would take a look at the crank pos sensor, easy to hit when replacing a transmission. Cam pos sensor connector harness likes to get hard and crack too. When I rebuild mine the MAF was bad and would only allow it to run for about a minute before cutting off.

Check your grounds to the block. The master fuel system relay (the gray one) chattering is indicative of the circuit to it not being completed. If the master fuel system relay isn't working properly neither will the fuel injectors.

That is one of them, the others are bundles of smaller black wires that come from the right side of the car.

You are right. I looked up ground connections online and found two small grounds above the starter below the intake hidden. Had to remove the fan and starter again but after all put together it fired right up. Thank you for the idea it worked out great.
