drivers side AC only

Post by pmunski »

My 2001 S60 has recently developed an air conditioning problem. The AC only works on the drivers side one half of the car. The passenger vents (front and back) blow only warm air. Tried vacuuming the console to eliminate dust on the climate control sensor and still no cold air on the passenger side. Dealer says that is could be a discharge hose that will require complete refrigerant recharge as well. At least a $600 problem. Anybody with any other thoughts?

I had the same problem and found out by accident that it was a problem inside the glove compartment. check the hoses inside the glove compartment and make sure the are connected to the vents.

I think that the temperature damper motor on the passenger side has stopped working. Pretty common problem. Sounds like your dealer is blowing freon,oh , I mean smoke at you! Temp on both sides is controlled by 1 damper motor on each side. I wonder at times where these dealerships get their people from. I have been with Volvo for over 7 years, and do not claim to know it all by any means, but I cannot believe that they told you that you have an AC problem. Sorry to vent, but you know what I mean.
