Check first if you have fuel getting to the injectors to rule out fuel delivery issues (filter, pump and relay). Usually, the fuel pump can be heard running when you switch on the ignition (pos. II) before activating starter (pos. III) But it is best to verify you have fuel at the fuel rail shrader valve
Example of Precision: Measure with a Micrometer, mark it with Chalk, and then cut it with an Axe.
Disclaimer: We (very) seldom do that

Just had the same issue with our '05 XC90 2.5T (but all models run the same fuel delivery, apparently). Fuel Pump Control Module went Tango Uniform. Search the forum for those key words, and see if you're exhibiting the same symptoms. Runs ~$300 for a new module, there's also a TSB for relocation of said module to keep it from happening again (if you're so inclined).

Before you spend any $$, if you don't already have one DICE/Vida is your very best friend. BUT before you spend a lot of $$ - IMHO you have a Crankshaft Position Sensor failure. Its a $50.00 part that takes about 15min to replace.

Cranks (yes), Getting Fuel (no), Getting Spark (no) - because the to the ECU the engine is not spinning. Hence the no start.

I am now having a similar problem after my 2004 xc90 2.5t which sat for 2 months- it will not start. There is a 1/4 tank of gas and it turns over - it was running fine when I parked it. I will not be home for awhile so I can not diagnose the fuel rail. I guess I need to purchase a vida dice. so I can check it out when I eventually get home. Is there anything else I can do from afar thru my wife? :)

PS I believe this is unrelated. When engine is cold there has been a squeal coming from the turbo area that goes away after about a minute. This has been going on for about a year and is gradually getting worse. The dealer claimed it was common for the turbo to do this if it was oil starved at some point. But a mechanic was unconvinced. So after spending $300 on the mechanic fixing exhaust leaks, the sound was still there. I decided to let it go until the actual problem rears its head.

Thank you
