1999 V70 T5 ignition switch pinout 9447804

Post by aharres »

Hello. I replaced the ignition switch on my vo, but when I was reattaching the wiring harness (I mistakenly removed the black plastic cover from the harness) and all of the pins popped out of the plastic retainer... :c

This is the switch I replaced.

And in this thread, someone posted a diagram which was similar, but some wires have different colors. It seems the OP also had different wires than the diagram, but he did not say where he plugged his wires in.

Here is a picture of my switch. I have attached the wires according to the diagram except for the wires I don't have. My wires are: blue-yellow, red, green-yellow, purple-yellow, white-yellow, and regular yellow.

If anyone has better information or even a picture of their pinout, that would be greatly appreciated!

I have found the solution by using the manual posted in the thread matching the wires I have. However, it does not include a yellow/white wire which is the only one left. I consulted my haynes manual which showed the yellow/white wire connected to pin 50.

Here is my wiring diagram.
blue-yellow > 15I
red > 30
green-yellow > 15A
purple-yellow > X
white-yellow > 50
yellow > S

I hope this helps someone. And remember, always take pictures before taking stuff apart!

Does anyone know what the colors correspond to? ie 12v constant, accessory, and full on etc? Any help is great!
I don't understand vests... is it winter on your torso and summer on your arms??

The terminal numbers 15, 30,X, etc above are actually industry standards and should be googlable.

It's DIN 72552 if you are an ISOphile.

For instance, terminal 30 Is a direct feed from the battery positive terminal, and so on.

I think this was the help Steve was looking for, for me. Found by cross-reference from another forum -- forgive me father for I have sinned . . . (And I'm not even Catholic, probably makes it 2x as bad.)
