The picture with label shows an inch hole, it tunnels to the other side on canister - there are two.
It is not there on the one i intend to replace. Purpose?
Also the straight 20" tail pipe is welded, not one piece as the original.

Sent a note to customer service to assess if RMA is need, or a replacement?

I guess you can put the dented sections on a VISE and clamp a tiny bit to push the dent back out.
Just squeeze sideways.

Shipping these things is not cheap and a hassle.
It is prob OK the way it is once you squeeze out the dents.

Waiting to hear from parts geek customer service.
Meanwhile found this helpful post https://volvo850wagon.wordpress.com/category/exhaust/.
It shows two things: 1) no dents, and 2) assembly at CAT.

It arrives just like this photo.

A complete CAT connection looks like this, it is trimmed in my setup.

The customer services is mute. A quick research...

Peeled the Starla sticker and discovered Fonos, notice MK 85616...

Now search 85616 at this Walker catalog http://www.walkercatalogue.eu/Search.aspx

The diagram below shows three numbers stacked for Starla 8631006, Fonos 612275, and Walker 85616

Thinking ahead...
How will you restore the CAT connection to its original, so it is clamped not welded to exhaust pipe.
Red arrow shows how it should be, green arrow shows it after MIDAS adventures.

You can never be diligent enough.
Starla is manufactured by Walker (?) - sold in market with 30% more for its quality.
Starla should be one piece like those for Volvo.
What am I missing with this picture!
Fonos/Walker concealed with big Starla label.

Making progress on RMA and new Starla OEM part - does anyone have feedback?

RMA was issued and UPS picked up the muff.

Partsgeek policy doesn't replace, you must re-order. So I did, second time, new muffler arrived on same UPS which took away the first by Walker.

Once again, a wrong part at first sight, more like a 740 type - refused delivery at driver's suggestion.

I am out of muffler money x 2 with no muffler to put on after a week long struggle with Pg. Now looking at OE route.

Meanwhile, took down the broken original last night.
