I wanted to post this for the benefit of others.

You do NOT need relay part number 213 "Fog Light Relay Jumper" for the fog lights to work on a 2000 v70 / s70

What you do need is a "J" jumper and "front fog light switch".

Tools needed:
socket set
Dremel tool or fine cutting tool

Instructions:
Step One:
Remove cover of drivers side kick panel by unscrewing single torx screw. Carefully push down kick panel till you have about one foot of clearance then gently pull toward drivers seat. Unplug courtesy light and toss the panel in the back seat.

This is where your midget contortionist skills come in to play.

Plug in "J" Jumper to Tan / Light Brown Relay port under dash.

Next to the steering wheel:
Pull off cover next to Rear fog light, behind the cover you will see a Yellow plug socket that is mounted to the cover. Remove the cover and replace with a Front Fog Light Switch.

With Key turned to position II turn on front fog light switch, if LED in switch lights up you are good to put fog lights on the car.

Step two:
You will need a Dremel tool or a way to cut a tabs off each side where the front spoiler grills are mounted.

Cut one tab clip on the outer most sides where the fog lights will be placed. ( If you mount the lights before you will see where the tab mounts will interferer with the lights staying flush)

Step Three:
Mount the Lights.
when you crawl under the car look for two holes that have no bolts in them at the back of the metal bumper. There will also be a small hole on the spoiler that will match up to the bottom of the fog light to mount it to the spoiler.

Take note if fog lights weren't there previous you might want to screw in the bolts once to stretch the metal. The reason I say this is because it will be hard to hold the light, socket wrench with bolt, and have it screw in with ease.

After lights are installed drive around like a PIMP and Ball like a G.

Without this post i wouldn't of known about just needing the 'J' jumper. This is why i love this site. I too thought i needed the 213 relay and went out to buy it but then it wouldn't fit. I just installed the 'J' jumper and now works perfect! So all I needed was the fog lights/dash switch and a 'J' jumper. If it helps anyone else i drive the 99 V70 European model.

Good post, except you don't "cut" the grills, you just buy the proper (smaller) grills (cheap)

Hello, thank you in advance for this post, this issue regarding fog lights was driving me crazy, since my car did not a have a port for relay for fog light relay jumper 9148992. to me it was very difficult to put this 213 relay at the left top port so I finally and thanks to this post, I used the " J " relay instead, I finally did it dismounting wipers arms and getting acces to it from the top. Now i have front fog lights working. I dont know how to put photos but if you want some please explain me how to put them at the web.

I installed a pair of fogs today on my 99 S70. All I needed was one J relay, and a fog light switch. The 20amp fuse was in slot 17, and the grey light control relay was already there. No jumper needed. Easy install. $5 per foglamp at the picknpull.

Can anyone please confirm if 98s need the 213 relay or not? Reason asking is that I removed a set of fogs, green relay and jumper out of a S70 that came with fog lights and I didn't see the 213 relay anywhere. I forgot to look at the year on this S70 but I'm assuming it was a 98 (same wheels as mines even though it was a turbo model). I was the first one at the junkyard to remove the kick panel and the fuse cover so maybe I won't need the grey 213? I just ordered the switch online so I have no way of finding out until I have the part.

EDIT: Now after installing the fog lights i decided to pop the fuse cover out and swap the green relay with the donor one. To my surprise the part numbers were exactly the same, only the side digits differed (don't have them here for comparison).
Do you think this would be one of those install the switch and have lights scenario?

After no luck with installing J Relay and 213 and some more research, it looks that the green 104/108 needs to be replaced with a grey colored 104/108. Now it's time to get the grey relay and sell both green ones. Getting there, slowly :)

I am adding fog lights to my 98 V70 AWD and have found everything I need from the junk yard except for the fog lights themselves. I have found new fogs that are fairly reasonably priced and will install those. The question I have is what type of screws are used to attach the fog lights to the car? Looking for size, length, type of thread, washer or no washer? Thanks for any help.

I have a new set of foglights and a switch. I haven't looked under dash yet just been reading up on the install. 1999 s70 glt and the wire for lights and switch is in place. What exactly is the J relay jumper. I hope I can see what I need to do when I get under steering wheel to see panel .
Any advice much appreciated.

Help -- I need the the "J" jumper & don't know where to find one. I have the fog lights, I have the switch, I have the new smaller grills, and I have the tools. Do I make a J jumper or buy a specific one? Electricity is NOT my forte!
