2001 S40...battery symbol on dash ON!
2001 S40, new battery two weeks ago. The 'battery symbol' on the dash is on. My manual says NOTHING about this symbol. Any ideas? If you have an idea, what do I do to resolve the problem? Thanks.

That warning light would indicate that your car is not charging when running so your new battery will run flat quickly especially if your driving at night with lights on or several other accessories.
Suggest you check your battery terminal leads to ensure they are correctly fixed and secure.
Locate your alternator at the front of the motor and below the inlet manifold.
Check the wiring connections to ensure they are good and that no wire has come loose or dislodged.
Assuming the above is all okay then its likely your alternator is not charging and may require an overhaul or the regulator located within is defective.
Often fitting new brushes is all thats required.
With a basic volt meter, check the battery's voltage with the car off. It should read 12 v. Start the car, or if need be, jump start it. Check the battery with the engine running. It should read about 13.5 volts. If not, either the voltage regulator is shot or the alternator is the problem.

Example of Precision: Measure with a Micrometer, mark it with Chalk, and then cut it with an Axe.
