2002 v70 t5 leak from brake booster

Post by markson32 »

After talking to a mechanic at the shop that did some recent repairs on my volvo, it appears I have a leaking brake booster from the hissing sound I hear when I release the brake pedal. My question is how difficult of a repair is this to do, I have done work on cars before, and how expensive of a repair is it to have done in a shop generally.

This is a common failure mode of the brake booster. There are similar cases around this forum and others.
The booster is a different part no. depending on the car year, and whether or not you have DSTC option installed. Costs about $300-500 for the part.
Installation isn't too hard, probalby something you can do yourself.
There might be rebuild kits which if exist could save you a lot of money assuming you do it properly.
