Good morning, everyone. New to the board, long time Volvo owner. I looked for a thread for this problem and couldn't find one so I hope you guys can help me:
I drive a '99 V70 Cross Country and absolutely adore it but lately have been experiencing some problems with the playback of the stereo, particularly the CD/Tape portion. Last month, I took a long road trip and the tape player and CD player were both working fine, we listened to them the entire trip. The day I got back, the tape and CD player portions just stopped playing back. The tape does the normal auto reverse thing, but it happens as soon you put the tape in. It flips twice and then spits it out. Same with the CD player. It sits in there for a bit and then spits the CD back out. What's weird is the radio still works fine, so it's not a playback issue.
Does anyone have any ideas? Is it a fuse? Thanks in advance for any assistance!
Tape/CD won't play back, but radio works.
Sounds like the cd player's lens is dirty. If you search around using the right key words you should be able to find a tutorial on how to take the cover off the unit and clean it with a q-tip and some rubbing alcohol. The pickup might not be able to find track one either. Try advancing the track manually before the player ejects the disk. I've had some luck with that too. Sorry, but I can't help with the tape player. Haven't used one in years! Good luck.
